At Alchemy, nothing is more important than using our platform and expertise in the out-of-home space to support marginalized communities. As Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month comes to a close, we are proud to say that we have worked to elevate Asian-American voices in the streets. While our work is far from done, let’s look at some of our recent pro bono campaigns and collaborations with top brands like Nike and Netflix in markets nationwide.

Supporting #StopAsianHate

It all started in early 2021 when we worked with Intertrend—an agency focused on targeting Asian-American audiences nationwide—on their #StopAsianHate campaign. The movement was formed in response to an uptick in hate crimes and discrimination against members of Asian communities throughout the United States.

Alchemy provided the media space free of charge to support such an important cause, spreading the message throughout New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. The bright yellow creative paired with Alchemy’s impossible-to-miss street-level placements made the campaign all the more impactful.

Empowering Asian-American Artists

We continued our work with the Asian-American community in 2022 by supporting NFT Artist Azuma Makoto, and his digital flower store, Metaflorist. Metaflorist provides limited quantity digital flower bouquets, or “digi-bouquets,” to people around the world who want to send something thoughtful to a loved one.

To spread the word about this innovative concept, Alchemy offered citywide wild posting campaigns at no cost in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington DC. We hit the streets and got people across these major markets buzzing about the new gift-giving experience.

Highlighting Historic AAPI Communities: San Francisco’s Chinatown

Most recently, we teamed up with Nike to kick off AAPI heritage month in San Francisco. The campaign, which featured the new “Gold Mountain” shoe collection, honors the name Chinese Americans gave to the city upon their arrival. Alchemy printed and posted the campaign pro bono, as an offer of support for the stylish and historically significant collection.

Our work doesn’t stop there. Alchemy recognizes that representation is crucial to equity, which is why we are thrilled to have also been involved in countless advertising campaigns that promote AAPI-centered film and television projects.
